Colt: Revolvers

The Colt Single Action Army is the definitive gun of the late 19th Century - that was a time of exploration, expansion and excitement in the American West. The Single Action, with its clean, elegant form and solid function, fit the era perfectly.

Bonded ivory is the only standard material Altamont offers for the SAA. We make it smooth or Fleur-de-Lis checkered in a two piece grip, with screws and escutcheons. If you prefer the traditional one-piece, we also make it in the smooth revolver classic panel style. This type of grip does not have screws and escutcheons; it is glued together to form a traditional one piece grip. All of the grips are available in the second generation only. We consider this to be guns made between 1920 and 1972. For larger recent frames, we make a third generation smooth grip (1972 to present).

The Colt Python is known as the Rolls Royce of Colt's revolvers. First introduced in 1955, it comes in blued, nickel, and stainless versions. The Python's appearance is always striking with its hand polished metal, beautiful bluing and superb design. The smoothness of the hand-fitted action is still considered the best around. The Colt Python is one of the handfuls of guns regularly chosen to be engraved into works of art. Traditionally, it is also the most expensive of production revolvers.

Altamont offers the Colt Python in three styles: the Oversized Finger Grooves, the Oversize Target, and the Classic Panel (bonded ivory only).
