The Ruger Blackhawk Vaquero is a successful modern version of the classic Single Action Army of the last century. It offers a wide variety of calibers and uses that allow it to be used
from plinking and hunting to cowboy shoots. The basic Blackhawk grip frame is the XR. On this frame is built the Blackhawk, the Vaquero, The Single Six, and the Old Army. The grips on these guns are basically interchangeable. To make matters a little confusing, however, Ruger introduced the New Vaquero. This is a very similar gun but the grip frame is slightly smaller and shaped more like the original Single Action. The grips for the Blackhawk and its family are not interchangeable with the New Vaquero. While we are presenting them in the same section, and offering them with the same materials and checkering, they are in fact completely different frames and grips.
Note the specific gun on each order.
The Premier Blackhawk/Vaquero grips come with high polish, exotic materials, careful checkering, carving and engraving.
The woods are East Indian Rosewood, African Cocobolo, Figured (fancy) Walnut and highly polished Superrosewood. They also come with gold screws and escutcheons. The checkering, engraving and carving examples are pictured below.

Scrimshaw really enhances a single action, particularly a blued frame. Most designs
are placed on the right hand panel in the gun owner's choice of black and white or color.
