The Super Blackhawk is the large caliber single action in Ruger's line. Its frame is
steel and most often chambered in .44 Magnum. One feature that distinguishes it from
the Blackhawk is the squared off trigger guard; the Blackhawk's is always round.
The fitting procedure is the same as for the Blackhawk: make sure the grip fits in the
frame snugly before tightening the screw. Chamfer the pin hole if necessary.
We make the Super Blackhawk in both the Classic Panel and in the Oversized Finger Grooves.
With the heavy recoil of a fully loaded .44 magnum, the finger grooves are particularly
useful in controlling muzzle jump.
The Classic Panel comes in both SuperWoods and Bonded Ivory; the Oversized Finger Grooves
come in the three SuperWoods. Altamont does not currently make Super Blackhawk grips in
either Bonded Ivory Carvings or from Exotic materials.
